On Tuesday, the 115th Congress officially convened. It’s probably the friendliest day on Capitol Hill, because the lawmakers’ family members are typically present for the swearing in-ceremonies, and then they take swearing-in photos together. Which brings me to this.
During the swearing-in photo for Kansas Rep. Roger Marshall, Marshall’s son, Cal Marshall, tried to “dab.” Because he’s a 17-year-old boy and probably thought it would be really cool to tell his friends? I don’t even know. You do inexplicably stupid things when you’re a teenager.
He was successful, but House Speaker Paul Ryan, who was standing next to him, was confused.
“Do you want to put your hand down? Are you going to sneeze?” Ryan asked.
Ryan finally got the teen to put his hand down. It’s so deliciously awkward. I can’t look away.

Paul Ryan is a true American hero stopping that kid from dabbing. The hero we don't deserve. pic.twitter.com/icSKnOC7W8

@CNN Ah… the younger generation! The younger, more self-centered, clueless and classless generation! Bless their hearts.

@CNN The only time in history I will ever agree with viciously hateful Ryan. Had no idea what dabbing is & the kid looks like a damn fool

Cal will probably look back on this 10 years from now and go, “Wow. I was such an idiot.”
Millennials strike again.
